This has got to be the highlight of the day. I have always said that with a good bottle of wine you can get through everything and if more people drunk wine who knows probably the world would be a different place.
"A would-be robber was disarmed by hospitable hosts who offered him a glass of wine and sent him off with a group hug but no cash. "
Yes you read it right! You cannot make some of this stuff up I tell you. The incident took place in Washington D.C. when a group of friends were having dinner (of marinated steaks and jumbo shrimp) when a hoodie slid through an open gate and pointed a handgun at the head of a 14-year-old girl.
Can you imagine the shock and horror of the situation. Panic stricken does not even begin to describe how most people (me included) would feel.
But what did Christina Rowan a 43 year old woman do? She spoke up.
"We were just finishing dinner, why don't you have a glass of wine with us?"
The intruder went on to try the Chateau Malescot St-Exupery exclaimed, "Damn, that's good wine."
From what I have read thus far on the wine itself, it was/is a very fine bottle of wine and depending on year can cost anything upto $400. A buglar with a fine palate. Now that you do not get to see every day.
It gets better I tell you. After putting his gun away and trying out some cheese -and more wine he suddenly blurts out "I think I may have come to the wrong house," ....... "Can I get a hug?...Can we have a group hug?"
Damn!! Maybe David Cameron, Conservative party leader, could take some "how to" tips for his hug a hoodie initiative.
PS I have already searched for my nearest stockist will keep you posted as to what I think of the wine.
