The Convinient Truth

A few months ago my housemates resorted to calling me cynical and too political and as a result I was not able to see the facts being laid down in the film.

Of the content and material, very few things were said that I hadn't heard of or wasn't aware of; I said

Really! They said. Well even so it was very thought provoking and highly topical.

If you are interested in global issues and environmental debates, then alot of the argument presented would be known to you; I said. I do not know the indepth science behind it and have not read any of the studies but I am familiar with it.

Most of you will have figured out by now that I am referring to "An Inconvinient Truth" the docu-drama film presented by Al Gore former next president of the United States of America. (More of that in a jiffy)

Why did he start to refer to his personal life story and the difficult times that he and his family went through during his sons hospitalization? I am not going to dwell on this nor other scenes that I disagreed with, cause it will be insensitive of me, but to me this really deviated from the main object of the film.

So anyway after watching the film I went up to my housemates and told them that I categorically believe that this was Al Gore setting himself up to run for president of the United States of America.

Guess what guys, Al Gore is polling first in New Hampshire amongst Democrats and people likely to vote Democrats, and this is even without declaring himself a candidate. This is ingenious and a master stroke in politics. Keep 'em guessing, smile and make some "paper" whilst you are at it.

According to the wires, Gore commands a fee of $175,000 for speaking appearances. Now that is serious money, enough of course to pit himself against serious GOP money and Bloomberg of course. In addition to the speaking, Gore is advisor to Google Inc. and has options valued somewhere in the region of $30 Million. He also holds stock options at Apple Inc. (something in the region of $6 Million). In short Al Gore has got a net worth over $100 Million an amount, the current crop of candidates would b hard pushed to match. Oh! And Current TV, the cable channel he set up is now profitable

With his experience in the business world, Gore is the one candidate who could demonstrate stronger business credentials than Hillary Clinton which would then consolidate the race to two candidates namely Hillary and Barack Obama - the candidate of choice for this blogger.

So my friends the issue is not really whether he will run, but rather when he will throw his hat into the ring.
